Guernsey Celebrated Lifelong Learning with Festival of Adult Learning 2025
The Festival of Adult Learning took place in Guernsey from Saturday, April 5 to Friday, April 11, 2025, drawing strong community interest and celebrating the power of lifelong education. Organised by The Guernsey Institute (TGI) and sponsored by Sovereign Guernsey, the event provided a vibrant platform for adult learners across the island to explore new skills and educational opportunities.
Throughout the week, a diverse programme of free classes, interactive workshops, demonstrations, and educational displays were held across various locations. The initiative aimed to showcase the value of continuing education at any stage of life and to inspire individuals to pursue both personal and professional development.
Organisers reported enthusiastic participation, with many islanders attending taster sessions ranging from digital skills and creative writing to personal finance and health and wellbeing. The festival also featured talks from adult learners and educators, who shared their experiences and insights into the benefits of returning to education later in life.
The event built on the success of the 2024 festival and reinforced the growing demand for adult learning opportunities in Guernsey. Organisers have hinted at making the Festival of Adult Learning an annual fixture in the island’s education calendar.
For those inspired by the event, The Guernsey Institute continues to offer a wide range of adult education courses year-round.
