Why Is Good Self Esteem Important?

It serves as a motivational function by making it more or less likely that people will take care of themselves and explore their full potential. Those with higher self-esteem are generally more motivated and take care of themselves. They also tend to persistently strive towards the fulfilment of personal goals and aspirations. On the contrary, those with lower self-esteem generally do not regard themselves as worthy of happy outcomes or capable of achieving anything.
