What is Electrolysis?

Electrolysis, in simple terms, is the method of removing individual hairs from the body or face. Today’s medical electrolysis devices destroy the growth centre of the hair with heat or chemical energy. After a very fine probe is inserted into the hair follicle, the hair is removed with tweezers.

Many areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the face, abdomen, breasts, thighs, legs and eyebrows. There are generally no permanent side effects, however, occasionally, a temporary, slight reddening of the skin may occur. Many factors influence the growth of hair, so you will need to return for many electrolysis visits.

The total number of sessions varies from person to person. Most clients will return once a week or every other week as needed. However, the unwanted hair will be gone for good once the series of treatments is complete. Each treatment lasts between 15 minutes and one hour.

What Will I Learn?

You can expect to be provided with a detailed study of the anatomy of the hair and the follicle. In addition, you will explore the causes of superfluous hair both normal and abnormal, and temporary and permanent removal of unwanted hair. You will also learn about the treatment itself. Also, you will explore the care and maintenance of equipment and advice and aftercare for clients.
