The cosmetics brand Revlon became the first established nail polish brand in 1932 when they released a cream coloured nail polish. Since then, nail polish has become extremely popular with brands such as Essie selling 311 shades of nail polish. It was in 1978 when acrylic nails were invented and in the 1980s when gel nails first appeared in the US slowly becoming a popular way to do nails across the globe.
